What the Putrajaya half-day tour covers

Putrajaya is Malaysia’s federal administrative capital, about 25 km south of Kuala Lumpur, built around a man-made lake. Most of what people come to see is free to look at. The hard part is that it is spread out: the mosque, the square, the government buildings and the three signature bridges are drive-distances apart, and the mosque only opens to non-Muslim visitors in a handful of narrow windows each day.

This tour is the shape of the visit rather than access to it. Four hours door-to-door from a Kuala Lumpur hotel down the MEX (Maju Expressway), with the Putra Mosque timed around its visiting hours, the bridges photographed in an order that doesn’t double back, and a 45-minute ride on a traditional covered perahu dondang sayang already booked. You get an air-conditioned vehicle and an English-speaking driver-guide who knows where to stand for the photographs. It is the shortest of our guided Putrajaya tours and the only one that includes the lake cruise.

What’s included

  • Pink Mosque visit timed to non-Muslim visiting hours, with robes loaned free at the entrance
  • 45-minute traditional covered perahu lake cruise, ticket included
  • Putra Square, Perdana Putra and the Palace of Justice
  • Photo stops at the Seri Wawasan, Seri Saujana and Seri Gemilang bridges
  • Air-conditioned vehicle and English-speaking driver-guide
  • Private: complimentary hotel pickup within 5 km of the Petronas Twin Towers
  • Shared: meeting point at Suria KLCC, Ramlee Entrance, drop-off at the Twin Towers

Tips, meals and personal expenses are not included. The private tour excludes insurance; the shared tour excludes pickup.

Private or shared: which one suits you?

Both options run the same four hours and see the same places. The difference is transport and price.

The private tour (Bokun exp 820488) is priced per group: RM 334.95 for 2 adults, which works out at RM 167.48 each, and drops towards RM 133.98 per person at 4 adults because Bokun tiers it at checkout. It picks you up from your hotel lobby if you are within 5 km of the Twin Towers, meets at the Corus Hotel beyond that, and can arrange outskirt pickup for a fee. Minimum 2 adults, minimum age 3, and the driver waits 30 minutes before a no-show is recorded.

The shared tour (Bokun exp 987324) is RM 111.65 per adult, the best per-person price on the page. There is no hotel pickup: you meet at Suria KLCC, Ramlee Entrance, which is a short Grab ride from most city hotels, and the tour drops you back at the Petronas Twin Towers. It runs daily, takes a stroller but is not wheelchair-accessible, and cancels free until 1 day before.

If you are two people watching the budget, take the shared tour and Grab to KLCC. If you are a family, travelling with older parents, or staying outside the city centre, the private tour is worth the difference because the day starts and ends at your door.

Doing Putrajaya without a tour

We would rather tell you this than have you find out afterwards. KLIA Transit runs from KL Sentral to Putrajaya Sentral in about 20 minutes. Cruise Tasik Putrajaya sells walk-up tickets at the jetty. The mosque lends robes free to anyone who turns up covered. Nothing about Putrajaya requires a guide.

What you take on instead is the planning: Grab rides between every landmark, working out which bridges are worth the stop, and reading the mosque’s visiting hours correctly the first time. That is the whole trade. If you would rather read it through before deciding, the guide on going with a tour or on your own lays both routes out side by side, and what fits in half a day shows the running order we use.

Why book the Half-Day Tour with us

Licensed, not an affiliate

Exotic Asia Holidays has traded since 2010 under MATTA MA3643 and Tourism Ministry licence KPL/LN/6245. You book the company that runs the vehicle and employs the guide.

Timed to the mosque

Non-Muslim visiting windows are narrow and prayer-time closures catch most visitors out. The itinerary is built around them, not the other way round.

The right order

Putrajaya's landmarks are drive-distances apart. We sequence the bridges, the square and the boat so nothing is doubled back on.

The DIY option, published

KLIA Transit gets you there in about 20 minutes and the jetty sells walk-up tickets. We say so on this site. Book the tour if you want it arranged.

Got questions?

Half-Day Tour questions

How long is the tour and where does it go?

Four hours door-to-door from Kuala Lumpur. It covers the Putra (Pink) Mosque, Putra Square, Perdana Putra, the Palace of Justice, the three signature bridges and a 45-minute traditional covered perahu lake cruise, sequenced to fit the mosque's visiting hours.

What's the difference between the private and shared tour?

The private tour (Bokun exp 820488) is RM 334.95 for 2 adults with complimentary hotel pickup within 5 km of the Twin Towers. The shared tour (exp 987324) is RM 111.65 per adult, meets at Suria KLCC Ramlee Entrance and drops off at the Petronas Twin Towers with no hotel pickup. Both run 4 hours.

Can non-Muslims visit the Putra (Pink) Mosque, and when?

Yes. Non-Muslim visiting hours are Sat-Thu 9:00 AM-12:30 PM, 2:00-4:00 PM and 5:30-6:00 PM; Fri 3:00-4:00 PM and 5:30-6:00 PM. The mosque closes to visitors during prayer times, which is the most common visitor surprise, so the tour times the stop around these windows.

What is the dress code, and do I need to bring a robe?

Arms and legs must be covered and women cover their head. Robes are provided free at the mosque entrance, so you don't need to bring anything. Photography is allowed in the courtyard and main areas but not in the prayer hall.

Do you operate the Putrajaya lake cruise?

No. Cruise Tasik Putrajaya operates the lake boats. We are a licensed tour company whose guided tours include the lake cruise, a 45-minute traditional covered perahu. You can also buy walk-up tickets yourself at the jetty if you visit independently.

How does hotel pickup work on the private tour?

Pickup is complimentary within 5 km of the Twin Towers; the Corus Hotel is the meeting point beyond that, and outskirt pickup can be arranged for a fee. Be in the lobby 10 minutes early. Waiting time is 30 minutes, then no-show.

What is the cancellation policy?

The shared tour is free to cancel until 1 day before; within 1 day it's a 100% fee. The private day tour is refundable if cancelled at least 2 days before. Bokun handles the booking and shows the exact terms at checkout.

Is the tour suitable for young children or wheelchair users?

The shared tour is stroller-accessible but not wheelchair-accessible, and minimum age on the private tour is 3. Infants ride free on a lap on the shared tour. Message us before booking if you have specific access needs.
